I love the story not only due to the incredibly wonderful ending, but also because of the exquisite description of the weakness of humanity.
In his story, Guy de Maupassant creatively reveals Mathilde Loisels dreams of a wealthy, splendid lifestyle. Mathildes lifetime of misery and despair is solely caused by her own selfish acts. And her vain obsession all ended up ruining her life.
Vanity is defined as excessive pride, especially in your appearance. In Mathildes case, the "excessive pride" in her looks and charm caused her to feel as if she deserved a higher ranking social class and the wealth. When she wore the necklace to the party, she wanted to give the illusion that she was something that she was not. Vanity caused Mathilde to fantasize about her life and surroundings-to live in a world of illusion, rather than reality.
Her life was affected in a negative way because of her obsession with vanity. It is so sad that she honestly felt successful the night of the dinner, just because of her looks and her surroundings. What a distorted view of true happiness and fulfillment! NEither an elegant dress or a beautiful piece of jewelry can make a person who they are. A caring and loving person has to be unselfish. Mathilde Loisel definitely lacked a caring and loving personality. The only person she proved to love was the person she wanted to be. Had Mathilde not spent so much of her life selfishly, she and Mr. Loisel could have had a lifetime of happiness. The most ironic and interesting piece of the story is the conclusion. Their lives were ruined for no reason. Had she told Mrs. Forrestier the truth about the lost necklace, she would have known that the necklace was just costume jewelry. Actually, it’s a tragedy made by herself, for she was conquered by the evil of her heart.

【教学总结】一、巧抓叠词

(一)导入新课
在外国文学史上有三位作家被誉为“短篇小说之王”,我们已经学习过了其中两位作家的作品:俄国契诃夫的《变色龙》,法国莫泊桑的《我的叔叔于勒》。还有一位是美国的欧。亨利,代表作《警察与赞美诗》。引出莫泊桑的《项链》。(或者:因学生在英语教材中学过莫泊桑的两篇小说,包括《项链》,由此引出课文)
(二)分析课文
1、品析情节,体会情节的作用
1) 小说以“项链”为标题,与作品内容有何联系?(小说原题是“首饰”。)
“项链”是小说情节结构的线索。
2) 小说在“项链”这条线索牵动下,都写了哪些情节?(用三个字概括每一个情节)

3) 品读小说的重要情节
“失项链”是命运变化的转折点。作者对此有一段感叹,请找出。作者说:要是那时候没有丢掉那挂项链,她现在是怎样呢?人生是多么奇怪,多么变幻无常啊,极细小的一件事可以败坏你,也可以成全你!这段话很明显是针对“失项链”这件事而发出的感叹。这段话的意思是什么?“失项链”是偶然的还是必然的。(结合文中的有关片断来谈)
明确:性格决定命运,情节的发展是由人物性格的内在力量所推动的。
孤立地看“失项链”是一件偶然的事,但联系全文(尤其是前文),可以看出其中的必然性,一方面,是由其性格决定的,如果她不去借,那么也就不会丢,但她的性格促使她要去借,即便这次不丢项链,也会有其它甚至是更惨的事等着她;另一方面,在晚会上的“狂热”“兴奋”“沉迷”“陶醉”及后来的“赶快逃走”,在这种慌乱陶醉中丢失东西也是很合乎情理的。
4) 其实,这篇小说中只有“失项链”这一个“偶然”吗?小说的结尾作者才说出这挂项链是假的,这个结尾“有些也出人意料”,它合理吗?前面作者有没有暗示?为什么不在玛蒂尔德去赔项链的时候设置一个情节,让玛蒂尔德知道项链是假的,不用经受十年的磨难?
明确:一方面欣赏结尾的艺术,体会前面三处铺垫的效果;另一方面进一步理解情节的发展对于表现人物和主题的作用。如果在前面就让她知道项链是假的,也就不能充分表现虚荣的代价,也无法表现作者对爱慕虚荣追求享乐的讽刺。情节的发展有力地表现了人物性格。 丢项链识项链
2、当然造成玛蒂尔德悲剧并非仅仅是个人的原因,还有其社会原因:
开头“她也是一个美丽动人的姑娘”,在妇女,美丽、丰韵、娇媚就是她们的出身,天生的聪明、优美的资质、温柔的性情是她们唯一的资格。女性只有凭着美貌与风姿才可得到社会的认可,女性的意识与价值只有在男人目光以观照下才得到承认。妇女毫无社会地位可言,她们只是作为男性的玩物而存在于当时的社会之中,遗憾的是玛蒂尔德追求的正是这样一种玩物式的生活。所以,以貌取人,金钱万能的资产阶级思想意识及上流社会奢侈腐朽的生活方式毒害了路瓦栽夫人,是造成她悲剧的客观原因,是制约玛蒂尔德们人生理想的一幅精神枷锁。
个人原因和社会原因合在一起就是文章的主题。

“诚实守信”观。有借必有还,当寻觅无果时,她和丈夫决定赔偿。即使自己只有一万八千法郎。买项链就需要三万六千法郎,她也没动过用假项链偷梁换柱、蒙混过关的邪念,更没耍起“项链已丢,无力赔偿”“要钱没有,要命一条”的无赖。她和丈夫的道德观非常值得我们学习,用十年的心血偿清债务,使朋友佛来思节夫人因祸得福,无意中成了受惠者。

5、讨论小说的主题
小说的主题主要是通过人物形象的塑造来自然的完成的,正如对玛蒂尔德这个人物形象存在着不同的理解一样,对这篇小说 的主题,历来有较大的争论,目前还在进行之中,尚无权威定论。综合这些争论,大概有以下五种观点(投影出示),你同意哪一种,理由是什么?
a、“小说尖锐地讽刺了虚荣心和追求享乐的思想”课文编写者持这种观点,“预习提示”中也是这样表述的,这是一般认可的看法。

作品擅长从平凡琐屑的事物中截取富有典型意义的片断,以小见大地概括出生活的本质。构思布局别具匠心,细节和心理描写惟妙惟肖,人物语言精彩生动,故事结尾耐人寻味。正如鲁迅所说:“无论从形式、结构,以及表现手法来看,都达到了短篇小说的要求具备的高度。”作为高中生接触到的第一篇外国小说教材,可以从多角度去挖掘文本的意义,对学生提高鉴赏小说的能力打下良好的基础。同时也可以初步了解中外文学、世界文学的迥异和异彩纷呈的特点。
一、选好角度,打开小说艺术之门。
《项链》这篇小说可以从多个不同的角度去解读、鉴赏,但教学课时和知识的容纳吸收是有限度的,所以力求在有限的时间和范围内做到抓重点、理顺难点,最大限度的有所收获是最佳效果。为此,可以设计以文本的精巧的构思布局和细腻深刻的心理描写对刻画人物的作用作为重难点。在此基础上整体把握,精心设题,深入体会。如先让同学用自己的语言把故事情节简略复述一下,理清线索,再品味“欧亨利”的笔法和空白艺术的奥妙。进而理解情节发展和人物性格的关系,那么对小说的主题进行探讨和理解就会顺利成章了。
二、解读文本,沐浴文化阳光。
1.随着信息技术的发展和计算机技术的普及,多媒体以其强大的优势改变了传统的“粉笔”+“黑板”的课堂教学模式,充分激发的学生学习的兴趣,优化课堂结果,提高教学效率,逐渐成为现代教学的一种趋势。我充分利用多媒体这一有利资源,精心制作了《项链》的课件,调动学生多种感知器官参与学习,手、脑、眼、耳并用,化抽象为形象,激发学生的语文兴趣,进入文学的殿堂。
2.让学生的身心沉入到作品中,随之动,随之思考,随之感悟,其中关键的一个环节是设计问题导入,启发学生的思维,激发创造能力。比如在探讨小说女主人公玛蒂尔德的悲剧原因时,可以佛来思节夫人为例设题, “为什么路瓦栽夫人看望佛来思节妇人会如此痛苦?”“借项链时,佛来思节妇人为什么不告诉路瓦栽夫人拿的是假项链?�
3.在重点品析人物的心理描写这一教学环节时,我把小说第一部分的七个“梦想”——得请柬后的复杂心理——借项链前后的心理变化——舞会部分的四个“陶醉”——十年艰辛部分中的一个“回想”这五部分作为解决的教学策略。八班的宋健和刘永两位同学还根据课本的部分情节,自导自演了一段精彩的短剧,不仅让大家欣赏到了惟妙惟肖的生活版的路瓦栽夫妇,而且有利于帮助学生更形象深刻地理解小说的人物形象,感受文学的艺术魅力。
二、迁移拓展,引发文化反思。
通过这篇小说我们了解了小说中心理描写对刻画人物的重要作用。古今中外许多艺术大师都十分注重对人物的心理刻画,在此可以把心理描写的分类和方法做一下归类和对比,从优秀作家笔下那些精湛独到异彩纷呈的心理描写片断中,我们可以获得对这一表现手法的较为全面的认识和宝贵的艺术启迪。我把心理描写归纳为直接心理描写和间接心理描写两种,前者分心理剖析、内心独白、梦境幻觉几种方法,后者有神态暗示、动作暗示、语言暗示、环境烘托几种方法。把和《陈奂生上城》、高尔基的《母亲》、契诃夫的《凡卡》、鲁迅的《药》的有关片断做拓展和对比,可以看出中外小说惯用的心理描写手法的差异,可以感受把握作品通过人物形象所反映的特定社会生活的某些本质,这应�

He was also, however, devastatingly cruel to women, whether in his own life or in his fiction. He remended that the French Academy mission a treatise on how to "break decently, properly, politely, without noise, scene or violence, with a woman who adores you and with whom you are fed up" (de Maupassant in Steegmuller, p. 178)。 He scoffed at monogamy, insisting that he could not understand how two women could not be better than one, three better than two, and ten better than three.
The Necklace: Reflections and Confessions of Human’s Vanity
“What would have happened if she hadn’t lost that necklace? Who knows? Who knows? How strange and changeful is life! How small a thing is needed to make or ruin us!” This is what impressed me most in “The Necklace” written by Guy de Maupassant. I love the story not only due to the incredibly wonderful ending, but also because of the exquisite description of the weakness of humanity.
In his story, Guy de Maupassant creatively reveals Mathilde Loisels dreams of a wealthy, splendid lifestyle. Mathildes lifetime of misery and despair is solely caused by her own selfish acts. And her vain obsession all ended up ruining her life.
Vanity is defined as excessive pride, especially in your appearance. In Mathildes case, the "excessive pride" in her looks and charm caused her to feel as if she deserved a higher ranking social class and the wealth. When she wore the necklace to the party, she wanted to give the illusion that she was something that she was not. Vanity caused Mathilde to fantasize about her life and surroundings-to live in a world of illusion, rather than reality.

反思
这是教学至今一次大胆的尝试。教师的分析总结,集中在课初与课末,目的是为了示范与明确。而课的主体部分,主角绝对是学生。
他们自编自导自演自评自说了整整两节课。
然而他们投入热情之高,课堂气氛之活跃,关注文本之细致,课堂反应之机智却远远超出曾经精心准备的任何一堂课。
究其原因,大致有三:
一、 预习作业形式多样,激发学生多方面多角度沉入文本,充分“预热”。特别是“续写结尾,改编剧本,排练演出”调动起学生潜藏的表演欲望,促使他们自主自愿地细致研读文本;分组合作,给了部分学生充分展现自我的机会,乐于在集体活动中勇挑重担团结协作实现自我价值;教师经常督促,较好地保证了预习的质量。
二、 第一课时教学重点突出,问题设计环环相扣,引导学生充分关注文本,更重要的是为学生分析鉴赏“故事”作了良好的学法指导。学生听课效率很高,使得下一环节“举一反三”有了实现的可能性。
三、 第二三课时,重在学生实践。让学生在剧本演出中发现情节设计中的种种误区,探讨解决问题的办法。在师生、生生与文本的对话中拔乱返正、澄清认识,明确小说创作情节设计的要义。此环节在课上可谓是高潮迭起,唇枪舌剑争论不休!
组一剧情:
得知实情后,玛郁闷不己,而佛却露出了极端势利的面目,欲将大事化小,邀请玛参加家庭聚会。玛至家中翻检衣物,无意间竟发现了十年前遗失的项链,欣喜不已,更衣赴宴。却不料在宴会上处处受人歧视,而佛更是冷漠虚伪到了极点。玛的自尊心不能承受如此的打击,于是夺路而逃愤而自杀。而佛的世界依旧歌舞升平。
编剧陈述构思,为了表现社会之冷酷,世态之炎凉,玛的悲剧全来自于环境。
学生点评:玛的表演可圈可点,十分入戏;佛的设计虽有夸张,在文中难以找到十分确凿的“冷酷”依据,但根据莫泊桑同期小说中对上流社会的描述可推知佛的选择亦可理解。
学生质疑:项链怎会突然出现,文中明明写着“翻遍所有”,不合情理(亦有学生反驳,慌乱之时难免骑驴找驴似乎也不是没有道理,获得绝大多数学生认可)
{对此教师引导不够,创作不可仅凭主观臆断,既是续写,定要忠实原文,最好不要为读者留下此等话柄,即便是合乎“情理”;且佛的表现如此露骨,似乎亦不合“贵妇”身份,对此教师亦没有引导学生关注人物语言的“合理”性;另外,玛为何自杀,玛是否真如编者所说“不堪一击”?结合文中十年辛酸之后玛的表现,此情节安排细细考虑值得商榷!}
组二剧情:得知实情,玛痛苦不堪地回到家中,路瓦栽不懈开导安慰,使玛懂得了珍惜拥有,决定从此踏实生活。此时恰接朋友婚柬,夫妇二人愉快赴宴。
编剧陈述构思,生活教会主人公勇敢面对。
学生点评:构思温暖,场景设计颇为用心。而剧本排练实在仓促,演员时时笑场,准备很不充分,大大影响了演出效果。
学生质疑:无
教师提问:玛的转变是否合理,能否在原文中找到依据?学生发现文中悖论。教师再问,为何十年辛酸都未让玛改变,而得知项链是膺品后却从此换骨脱胎?一时学生争论不休。一派认为,的确改写不合理,违背人物的社会处境与原作精神;一派认为,改写有值得商榷之处,但玛的转变是因为生活所迫,不低头便无以为继,故而此举亦可谓是无奈的选择;一派认为,改写完全合理,因为剧中玛的转变是因为路的劝慰,玛忽然认识到丈夫的良苦用心,对照原文中路瓦栽在还债中的表现,可以大胆地预想,是“伟大的爱情改变了玛”(此时有学生说,“如果我是路,知道我老婆给我背了三万四千法郎的债,我绝对跟她离婚!”全场哗然),且此种安排使得人物形象更加立体丰满。三种观点僵持不下,但绝大多数学生认可了第三种意见。
{教师提问得当,引导学生对照文本深入思考人物动机。但对第三种观点中的“离婚”插曲一笑而过,未能做正确的爱情价值观引导,此为思想教育的疏忽。并且对“情节安排应为丰富人物形象服务”这一点未能及时敲实。}

学生点评:三组表演十分到位,无论是台词还是演技,都高出前两组许多!(玛绝望之时的自言自语,路闻知消息之前的潇洒温柔,甚至包括那位只有一句台词“你丈夫投水死了!”的配角表演都相当入戏!特别是扮演路的男生,唱功十分了得。当他用纯正的意大利语高唱着“我的太阳”,将那道专为玛做的精致“法式甜点”潇洒而优雅地送到前排(尤其是听课老师)展示时,全场轰然雷动!)
学生质疑:路好端端地为什么要去死呢?是否合乎文本之意?
编剧陈述:“这是向伟大的鲁迅先生致敬”(原话)。因为这样的死法(不明就里,不知是自杀还是失足),恰与范爱农的结局悄然吻合,耐人寻味,发人深省。试想,路正是因为对玛的爱,十年辛酸里定然承受了比玛更大的压力。而真相大白之后,他所受到的刺激定然比玛更深。这时的路就像是郁积到沸点的火山,一触即发。“忍无可忍,无需再忍”,当路再也无法承受这一切,做此决择亦是人之常情。而安排路去死,实质上正是作者之意的再度延伸。《项链》不就是为了批判小资产阶级的虚荣心么?原文中作者以“项链是假的”给玛开了个巨大的玩笑狠狠地嘲讽了她的虚荣,而续写中作者又以路的自杀进一步将玛逼上绝望的悬崖,这样对“虚荣”的批判不是更为有力么?(大意如此,该生话音落后两秒,全场掌声雷动!下课铃响)
教师在此环节中基本处于“无作为”状态,因为学生的表现太过精彩!虽然剧本本身存在巨大的漏洞,但在此情此景下,教室气氛已然是“一边倒”,所有的人都被眼前的一幕“震住了”。教师也早无心对情节进行深入一步的思考,除了频频点头随声附和几乎已找不到别的言语来评价。然而课后,仔细想来,其实真是大有文章可做!首先,路与范爱农的结局有可比性么?这样的安排算得是“向伟大的鲁迅先生致敬”么?其次,路的自杀在一时冲动下可以理解,然而对照文章细细想来,在路心里最重要的人就是玛,而文中也不时地写到为了玛,路可以压抑自己内心的许多想法去一心安慰玛,他是一个相对理智的人,这样的选择,在他真的是可能的么?再次,原文作者对玛的态度其实就文本相关段落来看是相当复杂的,既有批判,更有肯定,特别是在文章的后半部分。因而仅仅将这部小说看作是“批判虚荣”的范本是不够确切的,编剧者将玛逼上绝路恐怕有违原作者的初衷。至少作者内心深处的“悲悯意识”是编者所忽略了的。
整节课反思:最大的亮点是生生互动,师生互动,实践激疑,合作解疑,且紧扣文本。最大的不足在于教师的课堂调控能力尚待加强――抓住学生活动中产生的火花及时为我所用(合乎教学目标);对学生活动中生成的知识与能力的结点及时总结强调(板书);对学生活动中存在的问题(特别是思想上的偏差)应及时地给予纠正。
表面看起来此类“学生活动”的课堂老师似乎要轻松许多,但实质上对教师的课堂调控能力要求更高,它是对教师应变能力的极大考验。对此,同学生一样,教师也应在“做”中学,在“做”中悟。关键是要大胆地尝试,积极地思考,用心地总结。
