People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.
For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population.

It's my great honor to be invited here to give a speech on environment.As we all know the environment is very important to us. Because it has a great effect on us.So we should protect our environment .
In fact ,we can do many things to improve environment such as planting trees, collecting waste paper, write to the local newspapers to remind everybody to take care of it.The most important thing is,I think ,to let everybody know its importance and everybody should make a contribution to it .
As long as we try, we can make it. We strongly believe that we can do it !

Many people are active in fighting against unfair treatment to coloredpeople, women , animals and so on. Right now I am talking about fighting forrespect to our environment. Though the environment doesn’t have a mouth todeprecate what humans have done to her, she retaliates through action. In theearly years the Chinese cut down large quantities of trees, at the source of theyellow river, which led to the disappearance of big forests and terrible floods.As a result,the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass and forestswas turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Another example was inseveral developed countries. Because many chemical factories dischargedpoisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonousgas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. What horriblescene!
What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature oncesuffered. If we don’t take action to show respect to the environment, we willhave to face an increasingly awful situation.
Measures should be taken to protect the environment on which we arerelying. First governments should forbid destroying vegetation, rivers andlakes, oceans, as and the atmosphere as well. Second voices should be made toannounce the public of the importance of protecting the environment. Thirdenterprises should pay special attention to the effect they have on theenvironment and work out solutions for the problems.Only by changing the way wetreat the environment can we get along well with it. Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order toimprove his way of life. With the tools of technology he has altered manyphysical features of the earth. He has transformed woodlands and prairies intofarms and made lakes and reserviors out of rivers for irrigation purposes orhydroelectric power. Man has also modified the face of the earth by drainingmarshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.
However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always hadbeneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasingdanger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases come outof the exhausts of motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air ofindustrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollutionof water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is beingchanged and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.
Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know,massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and evenposes a great threat to man's existence. Indifference to these problems willmean committing suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and lawspassed to conserve environment. Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from theserious consequences caused by this lack of care for his livingsurroundings.
Each and every one of us is responsible for the greenhouse gases we emit in our daily actions and choices. Therefore, combating climate change is going to take the combined efforts of everyone on the planet.
The average household carbon footprint in China is 2.41 tons of carbon dioxide annually. That's enough to fill half an Olympic swimming pool.
Surprised? Well, here's how you can work to reduce it:
1.Get started by calculating your own carbon footprint. This will give you a starting point from which to begin monitoring your progress. You enter details such as what sort of apartment you live in, your personal energy use and travel habits.
2. Each week, choose one day when you don't eat meat. Meat uses up lots of energy because it takes a long time to produce. Animals produce methane, which is another dangerous greenhouse gas, when they burp and fart.
3. Only buy the amount of food you need and if there are leftovers, get creative. For instance, make them into a soup. Ask to take food home from restaurants if there's some left, but remember to take your own container to avoid using a disposable carton.

What is more,it can recycle resources,which will do good to our environmental protection. Since rubbish classification has so many advantages,our government shouldtake effective measures and immediate actions. Different dustbins should beplaced in public places so that residents can leave their sorted rubbish inthem.
The Yangzte River is the longest river in China. And it's important andhelpful to us Chinese. But these days the Yangtze River is bringing us seriousfloods.
Many villages were destroyed by floods. The floods made hundreds ofmillions of people lose their homes, relatives and friends. Many children can'tgo to school as usual .Now the foods have drawn the attention of the wholeworld. People from abroad have offered their help too. In China, millions ofsoldiers are busy fighting against the floods. They are working very hard. Manyof them have lost their lives in their attempt to save the villagers.
Though we can't help them to fight against floods, we should help them torebuild their homeland. We can present them our pocketmoney and clothes. Ibelieve most of the people will return to their homeland in the near future.
It’s our duty to protect our environment. More and more people ride bikeswhen they go out nowadays. It’s helpful to keep the air clean.
I usually ride to school. I only take a bus on a rainy day. On my bicycle Ican breathe the fresh air and do some exercise to keep healthy. On the otherhand, I can keep away from the traffic jam and make sure I can arrive at schoolon time. To my joy, I can also do a bit for keep the air clean by riding abicycle.
I hope everybody will join us and take care of our environment in this way.I believe the air around us will be cleaner with the help of us all.
There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years.One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water andsoil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted watercauses diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reducedwith the rapid growth of modern cities.
To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot.Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect theforest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore,governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protectiontoday.
In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even moreconcrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance ofenvironmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should bemade to put the
population planning policy into practice, because more people means morepeople means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environmentintentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know thatdestroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.

我的看法是，为了保护环境，政府应当采取更具体的措施。首先，应当通过教育的方法使人们充分謒到环境保护的重要性。第二，应更加努力把计划生育政策付诸实施，因为人口多就意味着污染严重。最后，要严惩那些故意破坏环境者。使他们破坏环境就是毁灭人类自己。

世界的最后一滴水将是人类的眼泪。我们中国是12个贫水国之一，由于人们的浪费，水源越来越少了。
但是生活中还有许多浪费水的现象，比如;有些小朋友买来水枪到处射水，还有一些学生洗完碗或洗完手，都不关水龙头，浪费了许多水……最近云南贵州高原那里长时间持续干旱，使那里居民生存面临着严重威胁，针对这个问题，我们中国13亿要养成节约用水的意识。

There are places where cities once stood. There are gardens with trees and grass. But now these places are like deserts. Scientists began to study this land to find out what happened. Many of them believe the land died when trees were cut down. By this story，We find that we must do our best to provide our word’s environment.

Now，In the world，Many students began to do something for our world. They join environment clubs. In the club，People work together to make our environment clean. They bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school. They also come to school in no-car days. Cars give pollution to our air，so remember ：walk, ride a bike or run，used our legs. It’s more fun!

I know I’m only a primary student，but I can do something too. I will do something to help save water，when I take shows，I will collect the used water with a basin and later flush toilets with it. I will also help sort out different kinds of garbage，when morewastes are treated，our environment will be cleaner.
