I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! my topic is Opportunities and Challenges.
First, I would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? Happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. If I had asked this question to president Nixon, he would probably had said,”Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”
Needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to China is the 20xx Olympic Games. Till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. How much changes have you seen? New roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.
Other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the Olympic Games that cannot be seen directly. For example, more and more people will get to know China. I’m sure the mysterious Chinese culture will attract them strongly. And the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. What is more, Olympic Games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of Chinese youth with the Olympic values and the Olympic spirit. Now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?
I’ve already said a lot about the Olympics and China. But I think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”Does the Olympic Games have any special meaning to you?”

The recent earthquake in Japan has triggered a series of unexpected crises and even faith crisis among us. Are the increasing natural disasters echoing the 20xx prediction by Maya? Is our future really so vulnerable and tentative? I am trying to probe the answer.
Last November, as a volunteer of the Global Sustainable Leaders Forum, I first came across the concept of social entrepreneurship. In the inspiring speeches, I saw the determination and faith of converting ideal into practice. I couldn’t help asking myself: what should I live for?
The great thinker Russell once put in his essay: Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.
By launching donation campaigns and bearing social responsibility, Bill Gates reshaped the stereotyped faith of businessmen.
Then, how can I make a difference? A talk with my father gave me some inspiration.
My father is a superfan of traditional Chinese calligraphy. When I was a kid, I had the faintest idea why I should practise routinely this form of art. It was terribly boring. But Dad said seriously: As a Chinese, we need to pass down and promote our rich culture. It is our responsibility.
Yang Lan, a well-known TV host once said: As a media worker, I want to track down the passage of time and history by conducting interviews. For me, the responsibility outweighs the occupation itself.
Far back to Confucius, who was once obscure and humble, undertook the seemingly hopeless task of building a harmonious society. But with his strong faith, hemade a change by spreading the seeds of wisdom.
The story about three craftsmen further illustrates the power of faith. When asked about their work, one said: I'm piling up the bricks. Another replied: I'm building the wall. The third responded: I'm designing a home for people. These three replies mirrored distinct insights toward work: Task, job, and undertaking.
In my university, students majoring in National Defence choose to devote their golden years to safeguarding our mother land. They have interpreted faith with their own dynamic youth.
My friends, musicians can not simply provide us with lyrical notes, but create melody to sooth our soul; Scientists can not merely invent machines, but utilize their wisdom to reshape our lifestyle; teachers can not just impart knowledge, but usher us to become a worthy person!
So, my dear friends, life without faith is just like music without melody, and world without color. We are who we choose to be. It is faith that’ll remove our fear about future and stretch the radius of our life. Let faith light up all our young dreams.

The topic of my speech today is “Being a Good Listener”.
Good listening can always show respect, promote understanding, and improve interpersonal relationship.
Many people suggest that parents should listen more to their children, so they will understand them better, and find it easy to narrow the generation gap; teachers should listen more to their students, then they can meet their needs better, and place themselves in a good relationship with their students; students should listen more to their classmates, thus they will help and learn from each other, and a friendship is likely to be formed.
What I want to stress is that each of us should listen more to others. Show your respect and never stop others till they finish their talk; show you are interested by a supportive silence or a knowing smile; be open-minded to different opinions even though you don’t like them. In a word, good listening can really enable us to get closer to each other.

Come here and take the helm! ”How charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. This morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the Olympic Games waving its hand. After chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the Olympic Games. And mine is to be a “comforter” ----that is someone who will give comfort to others.

I am a business person,today i invent a very special invention,i think itis such a exciting invention ,maybe it can cheer you up,now,let me tell youabout all part of it . This is a fly blanket,when you spend time alone and wantto enjoy yourself,you can take it to the sky,in the sky ,you will see so manyclouds,their shapes are like people,animals,and so on,you can hang out betweenthem.However,if you are so happy and have free time,you can take it to othercountries,it can produce a lot of foods,then you can eat them and admire thebeauty of nature. In the evening,it can take you for a walk ,you can sit thereenjoy these stars and moon,when you miss a person,it can take you to meet him orher,after that,when you fall asleep,the fly blanket will be a comfortablebed,you can make a good dream. Last one,it also a best one ability,you can havea journey to space.If you have problems breathing,it could provide you withairs,in the difficult situation,it protect you.So you can visit many places,andhave a good time. HOW ARE TV PICTURES MADE?
A TV picture starts with a TV camera. Some TV cameras are big and some are small. The cameras in TV studios are big. Camera operators roll the big cameras around on wheels. There are usually several big cameras in a TV studio. Cameras used outside a TV studio are smaller. TV camera crews take the smaller cameras to news and sports events.
Some cameras send out live pictures to your TV set. Some cameras make videotapes that get played later on a television program.
All TV cameras need electricity to work. A camera operator points the camera at a scene. The camera picks up light from the scene. It changes this light into an electric signal called the video signal. A microphone changes the sound of people talking or music playing into an electric signal called the audio signal.
but here's the thing about my grandfather. underneath this ceremonial role, he was really modest and really introverted -- so much so that when he delivered these sermons, he had trouble making eye contact with the very same congregation that he had been speaking to for 62 years. and even away from the podium, when you called him to say hello, he would often end the conversation prematurely for fear that he was taking up too much of your time. but when he died at the age of 94, the police had to close down the streets of his neighborhood to accommodate the crowd of people who came out to mourn him. and so these days i try to learn from my grandfather's example in my own way.
so i just published a book about introversion, and it took me about seven years to write. and for me, that seven years was like total bliss, because i was reading, i was writing, i was thinking, i was researching. it was my version of my grandfather's hours of the day alone in his library. but now all of a sudden my job is very different, and my job is to be out here talking about it, talking about introversion. (laughter) and that's a lot harder for me, because as honored as i am to be here with all of you right now, this is not my natural milieu.
so i prepared for moments like these as best i could. i spent the last year practicing public speaking every chance i could get. and i call this my “year of speaking dangerously.“ (laughter) and that actually helped a lot. but i'll tell you, what helps even more is my sense, my belief, my hope that when it comes to our attitudes to introversion and to quiet and to solitude, we truly are poised on the brink on dramatic change. i mean, we are. and so i am going to leave you now with three calls for action for those who share this vision.
When I was a child, I was always dreaming of what I could become when Igrew up. Become a singer? Become a painter? Become an actor? These are someglamorous professions, and what I want to be the most is an inventor.
Although the inventor is a behind-the-scenes worker, he can make a greatcontribution to human development. It can make people's lives less tired andmake people happier every day.
If I were an inventor, I would invent many things that would be convenientfor people to live on. Start with people's housing starts! If I were aninventor, I would invent a very advanced door. The shape of this door is notdifferent from the ordinary one, but it has many functions. First of all, whenthe noise coming from the corridor, the door can be according to the master'svoice as he opened the door ahead of time, when the owner came to the door itsay: "master, welcome home!" Then the door closes. The advantage of this designis that the owners no longer have to go out with keys. Second, if there is a badguy to destroy the door, the door have a security alarm system, can let theneighbors know there is a thief, the thief will soon be away. And the door willalso send the information to the owner's mobile phone for the first time,telling the host that there is a bad guy and need to deal with it as soon aspossible. Finally, the door has the function of weather forecasting. At seven o'clock in the morning, it will report on time and report the weather and thesituation of the day. If the weather forecast says it's going to rain, the doorwill offer an umbrella before its owner goes out, and if it's a big summer itwill also offer a sunblock and sunscreen. The invention guarantees home safety,improves living standards and makes people's lives more comfortable.
If I were an inventor, I wanted to invent a medicine that would delaypeople's life slightly. Because I know that it is impossible to live forever,and if you can live forever, there will be more and more people in the world. Aslight delay is the ability to make a person's life a little longer. Theinvention is mainly used for the immediate death of the hospital, but to thepeople who want to see the last of their loved ones. Or people who are in a caraccident or other sudden death. Because of this invention, they can be able tosee the last part of their family, leaving them with the words they want to say,without regret.
If I were an inventor, I would invent an emotional robot. Scientists sayrobots are mechanical, unemotional and can't understand what people really need.And I'm going to invent this robot, which has its own personality, apart frombeing able to do the housework, the laundry, the cooking. Owners can chooserobots with different personalities.
There are gentle, considerate, or tyrants. The charm value of the robot canbe acquired by itself. At that time, the robot is more than just a machine, itcan be your family, your friends, more like your child. He's hungry and needsyou to feed him. When you are sad it will hug you, stand beside you and comfortyou and tell you jokes. When you're nervous, it encourages you and tells youit's ok. When you are happy, it will give you all kinds of celebrations,standing next to you and dancing, more than you are happy. But the baby robotalso dies, for example, when it dies of starvation, or parts that are too longand die. But you can rest assured that the life of the robot baby is usually ahundred years old, enough to accompany you forever.
If I am the inventor, I would also like to invent a lot of things tobenefit mankind, I'm not in order to let everyone thank me, let me earn a lot ofmoney, but in order to let people all over the world have a safe, happy, happy,carefree, so I am very satisfied. I would like to be an inventor. For thisdream, I must study hard and go to a good university in the future. I can getrid of the word "if" and realize my dream.
Computers play an important role in the modern world. Today they are used in many areas of human activities, such as business, industry, science and education. I'm a primary school student. I always search for information on my PC, make PPT or type article with word software and sometimes listen to music, play games on the computer in the weekends. Sometimes I write e-mails to my friends on the computer, too. I often chat with people on-line. I usually do my homework on the computer, too, it's very easy.
I also enjoying watching cartoons on-line, because I can find my favorite cartoons easily, when I watching TV, I should wait the advertisement and watch the cartoons on time. Imagine a car without a steering wheel. Tough to imagine, right? Well, actually that’s the image you see if a person has no faith. Faith helps to guide us in our lives, encourage us to persist, and give directions when we are lost.
In this peaceful era, our life paths seem to be already well-planned and determined. What we have to do is to follow. Yes, we may face different sorts of challenges, but at least they are less harsh when compared to those in the past. We do not need to worry about starving to death, or how to earn enough money to buy food for our siblings and sustain our lives.
It is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. In the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. The road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel?
Nevertheless, one cannot foresee the future. Accidents do happen. For example, a car may suddenly appear in front of you. At such times, if you did not have the steering wheel, how could you make a sudden turn? Just as no one could foresee the Sichuan Earthquake nor the Japan Tsunami. If the one being trapped under the debris did not have faith, he/she would not have survived until being rescued. If we did not have faith, we could not recover from our sadness and rebuild our home.
Faith is unique, just as happiness is. We feel happy for different reasons, we believe for different things. How can we know what we believe in? Recall the last time you are discouraged, and you felt you had lost all hopes in your life. What pulled you back into the world? What pushed you to stand up and continue to strive again? That is your faith, your belief. Faith is what makes you feel you can when others say you can’t.
Faith is important…, faith is vital…, faith is necessary for us to live our lives. If we do not have faith, we are like a car without a steeling wheel. We can only afford to move along a straight and smooth path, and cannot meet any challenge in our lives. One must understand that no matter how smooth the road is, it is impossible for a car to go without a steering wheel. Or, put it in another way, have you ever seen a car without a steering wheel on the road? So, act now, my friends, find out what you believe in, find out your anchor in your life, hold on to your steeling wheel of your car, drive on, and reach your destination. Thank you very much.

At that specific moment,i suddenly understood the meaning of this sentence totally.So on that day,i smiled as you used to,looking at you.The last words i said were,keep walking in sunshine.

I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
However, we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.
