Good morning, ladies and gentlemen:
Today i'm very happy to be here to share with you some of my thoughts onthe topic of globalization. and first of all, i would like to mention an eventin our recent history.
Thirty years ago, american president richard nixon made an epoch-makingvisit to china, a country still isolated at that time. premier zhou enlai saidto him, "your handshake came over the vastest ocean in the world - twenty-fiveyears of no communication." ever since then, china and america have exchangedmany handshakes of various kinds. the fundamental implication of this example isthat the need and desire to communicate across differences in culture andideology is not only felt by the two countries but by many other nations aswell.
As we can see today, environmentalists from different countries are makingjoint efforts to address the issue of global warming, economists are seekingsolutions to financial crises that rage in a particular region but nonethelesscripple the world's economy, and diplomats and politicians are getting togetherto discuss the issue of combating terrorism. peace and prosperity has become acommon goal that we are striving for all over the world. underlying this mightytrend of globalization is the echo of e. m. forster's words, "only connect!"
With the it revolution taking place, traditional boundaries of humansociety fall away. our culture, politics, society and commerce are being sloshedinto a large melting pot of humanity. in this interlinked world, there are nooutsiders, for a disturbance in one place is likely to impact other parts of theglobe. we have begun to realize that a world divided cannot endure.
China is now actively integrating into the world. our recent entry to thewto is a good example. for decades, we have taken pride in being self-reliant,but now we realize the importance of participating in and contributing to abroader economic order. from the precarious role in the world arena to ourpresent wto membership, we have come a long way.
But what does the way ahead look like? in some parts of the world peopleare demonstrating against globalization. are they justified then, in criticizingthe globalizing world? instead of narrowing the gap between the rich and thepoor, they say, globalization enables developed nations to swallow thedeveloping nations' wealth in debts and interest. globalization, they argue, should be about an earnest interest in every other nation's economic health.
We are reminded by karl marx that capital goes beyond national borders andeludes control from any other entity. this has become a reality. multinationalcorporations are seeking the lowest cost, the largest market, and the mostfavorable policy. they are often powerful lobbyists in governmentdecision-making, ruthless expansionists in the global market place and adevastating presence to local businesses.
For china, still more challenges exist. how are we going to ensure a smoothtransition from the planned economy to a market-based one? how to construct alegal system that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of adynamic society? how to maintain our cultural identity in an increasinglyhomogeneous world? and how to define greatness in our rise as a peace-lovingnation? globalization entails questions that concern us all.
Like many young people my age in china, i want to see my country getprosperous and enjoying respect in the international community. but it seems tome that mere patriotism is not just enough. it is vitally important that weyoung people do more serious thinking and broaden our mind to bigger issues.and, there might never be easy answers to those issues such as globalization, but to take them on and give them honest thinking is the first step to beprepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way. and this is alsoone of the thoughts that came to me while preparing this speech. thank you.
My Home, My Heaven
Dongying,my home,is located in the vast delta plains of the majestic YellowRiver. There are reeds undulating on the golden beach and varies birds soaringover the wetlands. Dongying is a city of oil as well as ecology. The roaringfrom the running drillings and the sweat on the faces of oil workers witnessedthe development of this land.
As an out-and-out child of Dongying,I have lived here for 20 years. Ididn’t experience the full glorious history of the land, but the customs and thespirits have branded in my heart. I could not erase them, for I am a daughter ofan oil worker.
The sincere and hard-working people here taught me what is perseverance;our mother river and the magnificent Bohai Sea show me catholicity; the elegantswans and the azure sky give us the best instance for harmony between humanbeings and the environment. Actually, all of them are the fortune for my wholelife.
It is not difficult for us to find immense differences happened inDongying, especially after the reforming and opening-up. When I was a volunteerof the China-Dongying International Petroleum Equipment & TechnologyExhibition in 20__,what shocked me is the rapid growth of this land. With theincreasing development of social modernization,we aim not only at efficientlyimproving people’s life, but in the success of constructing an affluent societyand thoroughly applying the Scientific Outlook on Development in recent decades. In order to achieve these goals,it will be our responsibilities to makecontributions. As a student at college, the greatest contribution I can do is tokeep the determination, endeavor to study scientific knowledge and keep the senseof historical responsibility. In this way,I believe, the future of Dongying willbe better.
Born here and living here,I would like to quote the famous Chinese poet AiQing’s lyrics to express myself: “Why are the tears always in my eyes? That'sbecause I love the land so much.”
ladies and gentleman,good evening!
it's my great honor to present this speech today.my name is peace and i am from class 1 of teaching chinese as a foreign language. my topic today is "living at present is my top concern"。
we've often heard the famous words;“yesterday is history, tomorrow is mistery, but today is a gift, that's why it's called 'present' ”.indeed, rich or poor, every one is endowed with this most precious gift .only by treasuring it and living to our fullest potential in the present, can we project our way forward to a bright and rewarding future.
living at present requires a positive attitude to confront life;it's having the wisdom to spend our life’s resources engaging in the most productive affairs; it's directing our time and energy towards the most efficient way to achieve a promising future! by living at present, we'll have more time and energy to focus on our goals and make a diffference to whatever our current task may be. furthermore,, it's learning from the past instead of unnecessarily carrying heavy burdens from yesterday, and planing our future to wisely prepare for it instead of being impatient or restless . if we drawn, or let ourselves be overcome by yesterday's memories or strong feelings , how can we be observant enough to focus on things going on around us? if we are into dreaming or unnecessary concern for tomorrow,,how can we prepare well for the exciting upcoming future?
that is why living at present is my top concern.
living at present demands the courage to throw away useless encumbrances of the past , to accept what is unchangeable, to change what is chnageable, and to learn from the past which should be a lesson. ,instead of an obstacle.
living at present also requires the wisdom to concentrate on the present ,preparing for the future and courageously displaying the patience to wait for tomorrow.
over a long period of time, taking care of my little brother and making money at university push me too hard ,and i was so exhausted and anxious that i couldn't even sleep though my sleeping time is extremely limited.eventually, i came to realize that i must lay off the mental burdens like worries from the past and concerns for the future and live at present. i need just to realise that i am on my way to my destination.; because i now know, that my top concern is "living at present "!
during his presidency, bill clinton seized important opportunities on issues from welfare to free trade. he was a tireless champion of peace in the middle east. he used american power in the balkans to confront aggression and halt ethnic cleansing. and in all his actions and decisions, the american people sensed a deep empathy for the poor and the powerless. shortly before leaving office, president clinton said, "christ admonished us that our lives will be judged by how we do unto the least of our neighbors." throughout his career, bill clinton has done his best to live up to that standard. and americans respect him for it. at every stage of his remarkable life, president clinton has made and kept countless friends, who share in the joy of this day. and three people in particular have the largest part in this remarkable story. one day more than 30 years ago, inside the yale law library, a fellow student walked over to bill clinton and said, "if you're going to keep staring at me, and i'm going to keep staring back, we ought to at least know each other's name. mine's hillary rodham. what is yours?"that was a good day for both of them, and the beginning of a partnership unique in american history. so today, we honor the former first lady of arkansas, the former first lady of america, the united states senator from new york, senator hillary rodham clinton.
perhaps the clintons' greatest achievement is their daughter, who moved into the white house as a young girl, and left as an accomplished young lady. it's not easy to be a teenager in the white house, but it's a lot easier when you have a loving mother and a loving father that chelsea clinton had.

It was noon on Friday. Friday was wash day, Kerry’s least favorite day. Doing the wash was such a pain. He had to gather together all the dirty clothes. He had to turn the shirts and slacks inside out to save wear and tear on the outside of the shirts and slacks. He had to empty all the junk out of all the pockets of his clothes.
Then he had to find quarters for each load of wash—four for the washer and three for the dryer. It’d be so nice to have a weekly maid, like his downstairs neighbor. Kerry piled all his clothes into the laundry basket and went downstairs. He was relieved to hear silence as he approached the laundry room; no one was using the machines. He put laundry soap and quarters into the washer, and set it at Warm Temperature and Regular Wash. A few minutes later, it was full of soapy water. He stuffed in half of the dirty clothes. This was going to be a two-load day.
He placed the half-full basket on top of the churning washer. He shut the laundry room door and walked back upstairs. He set his electronic timer to 35 minutes. When the washer was done, he’d reload it and put the first load into the dryer. He sat down and opened the newspaper to the California section: "Truck Runs Over Crossing Guard," said the headline.
ladies and gentlemen, this is joe biden, i'm filling in for president obama, while he addresses the nato summit in wales.
when the president and i took office in january of , this nation was in the midst of the greatest economic crisis since the great depression. our economy had plummeted1 at a rate of 8% in a single quarter-part of the fastest economic decline any time in the last half century. millions of families were falling underwater on their homes and threatened with foreclosure. the iconic american automobile2 industry was under siege.
but yesterday's jobs report was another reminder3 of how far we've come. we've had 54 straight months of job creation. and that's the longest streak4 of uninterrupted job growth in the united states' history.
we've gone from losing 9 million jobs during the financial crisis to creating 10 million jobs. we've reduced the unemployment rate from 10% in october of to 6.1% today. and for the first time since the 1990s, american manufacturing is steadily5 adding jobs-over 700,000 since . and surveys of both american and foreign business leaders confirm that america once again is viewed as the best place in the world to build and invest.
that's all good news.
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!
Etiquette is not only the person, the embodiment of education is also a manifestation of personal morality and social morality. Is the face of the city, is the country face.
Therefore, learning etiquette not only in strong personal qualities, outside the plastic units better able to lubricate and improve interpersonal relationships.
Has a history of 5,000 years of civilization as the "ceremonies", stressing civilization, with rituals, but also promote the national culture, an important way to demonstrate national spirit.
We are in society, identity, role is constantly changing. We hate others this moment, the next moment people often become the object of hate. These are none other than "informal," the act of.
When we, as tourists often, always in accordance with their own interest, spitting, spit chewing gum, trampled grass, scrawl graffiti on the cultural relics; when we are the people of the time, it is spitting the phenomenon of hate to write graffiti.
When we get along with classmates when the students always complain about the "informality", whether at work or life to speak through things; and our management are often too lazy to "section."
When we take the bus, always able to grab a seat for the complacent, pushed, stepped on, when people say I'm sorry from the disdain; when we were pushed or stepped on, when they do not always say sorry if the brooding and even punches thrown; the time when we are old, standing threw the car, always eager to own some people to not stand for a seat.
With the social development and progress, people's spiritual needs levels and increasing the value of self-awareness, we want to understand more, be respected. There is no doubt that the current situation, the ritual is not individual industries, individual community's needs, but all the people needed.
Train to run fast, depends on the locomotive. At home, if parents can take the lead; in schools, if teachers can take the lead; in the unit, if leaders can take the lead; in the window unit, window staff if we can take the lead ... ... by extension, to all of China to promote , universal civilization, etiquette, if the capital more than 10 million people to take the lead in this head; if everyone starts from me and from now on ... ...
No doubt, our civility to popularize the work will be easier. Then our spiritual civilization and material civilization would be like to achieve rapid development. We are 1.3 billion people, mental outlook, certainly a new look, people are living in a friendly, tolerant, caring, warm community atmosphere!
Etiquette, stressing that the "respect-based."
Want others to respect you, first of all have to respect people.
Those bad habits, map the moment fast, lost to one's personality and dignity. Do not respect even their own people, other people will respect you?
My speech is over, thank you!
we set no bounds to our inclinations. nor to the unrestricted opportunities of gratifying them. we have as yet found no obstacle, no disposition to flag; and it seems that we can go on so forever. we look round in a new world, full of life, and motion, and ceaseleprogress; and feel in ourselves all the vigor and spirit to keep pace with it, and do not foresee from any present symptoms how we shall be left behind in the natural course of things, decline into old age, and drop into the grave. it is the simplicity, and as it were abstractedneof our feelings in youth, that (so to speak) identifies us with nature, and (our experience being slight and our passions strong) deludes us into a belief of being immortal like it. our short-lives connection with existence we fondly flatter ourselves, is an indissoluble and lasting union-a honeymoon that knows neither coldness, jar, nor separation. as infants smile and sleep, we are rocked in the cradle of our wayward fancies, and lulled into security by the roar of the universe around us0we quaff the cup of life with eager haste without draining it, instead of which it only overflows the more-objects prearound us, filling the mind with their magnitude and with the strong of desires that wait upon them, so that we have no room for the thoughts of death.
Arkansas is a state that knows political skill when you see it. a fellow in saline county was asked by his son why he liked governor clinton so much. he said, son, he'll look you in the eye, he'll shake your hand, he'll hold your baby, he'll pat your dog -- all at the same time.
in the early 1990s, the american people saw a young, well-spoken, relatively unknown governor rise to national prominence. yet for decades here in arkansas, the signs of destiny were clear. when young william entered a new school in the 4th grade, a classmate recalls, "he didn't mean to, but he just took the place over." when governor clinton declared his candidacy for president in this city, his close friends were not surprised in the least. they'd always known that bill clinton's moment in history would come.
over the years, bill clinton showed himself to be much more than a good politician. his home state elected him governor in the 1970s, the 1980s, and the 1990s, because he was an innovator, a serious student of policy, and a man of great compassion. in the white house, the whole nation witnessed his brilliance and mastery of detail, his persuasive power, and his persistence. the president is not the kind to give up a fight. his staffers were known to say, "if clinton were the titanic, the iceberg would sink."
Good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends.
I'm Lai Senhan from the University of International Business & Economics. Do you know what date is it today? Today is the Olympic Date. I'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about Beijing Olympic Games together with you all. The title of my speech is: what can we do for Beijing Olympic Games?
First of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. At the end of August, 20xx, when I decided to come to Beijing for study, my friends hel* * rewell Party for me. They said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in Beijing, and then in 20xx, we shall go to visit you during the Olympic Games. I laughed and answered: OK, no problem!
Time flied and 2 years passed. Now I am a graduate. My teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? Go back home, stay in Beijing, or go to some other places? And I always answer: I will stay in Beijing. I make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: I've fallen in love with Beijing! I'm eager to welcome the coming Olympic Games together with my fellow countrymen, and I wish I could do something for the Olympics & for the city.
As we know, Beijing
As you slowly open your eyes, look around, notice where the light comes into your room;listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize;feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air.
Yes,yes, yes,it’s a new day,it’s a different day,and it’s a bright day!And most importantly,it is a new beginning for your life,a beginning where you are going to make new desicisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented level!
In your mind’s eye,you can see clearly the things you want to have, the paces you intend to go,the relationships you desire to develop, and the positions you aspire to reach.
You can hear your laughters of joy and happiness on the day when everything happens as you dream. You can see the smiles on the people around you when the magic moment strikes.

一、Daydreaming life
To have everything done by my robot, I sit in the garden en of my villa and watch the pink snow flowing in the sky with all kinds of delicious food circling around me. I reach out for the goodies. Ling-ling-ling! Suddenly the telephone rings. Oh, it’s only a daydream.
With the mixture of romance and imagination, the girl who likes daydreaming appears to be here. Martin Luther King had his big dream that is to liberate his Negro brothers, and I have my small daydreams. But we share something in common which is that we all desire for a bright future. With my love for delicious food, I always daydreamed of many goodies being severed to me. Although I awoke every time without having a taste at those goodies, these interesting experience have relaxed my brain, and the hope for a bright future has encouraged me to be more diligent to realize my daydreams. The necessary element romance has helped me to have more fun in my daily life and get closer to the beautiful nature. The element imagination has helped me to be more creative in my study and daily life.
But daydreams need a limit. I only allows myself to daydream at the right time and for certain times for fear that I would get too far from the real life or will be too lazy to work hard lost in those remote daydreams.
二、Daydreaming life
Maybe I will find a job that will realize my daydreams and offers me more time for daydreaming, but who knows? Another daydream will probably change my idea.
Days and days, dreams and dreams, and that are daydream. Young girls, enough imagination, and that are my daydreams.
Who is the girl that is standing there? Lovely dress, beautiful shoes, and a prince who is holding her hands, dancing at the ball. Oh! A daydream once again. Thank you for listening!
