i once heard a moving story about a mother.two childrens were drawn into the flood and the situations was very dangerous.their mother jumped into the water without hesitation.but the mother couldn't swim at all.jumping into the water means she might lose her life.but at that time she had no time to think about herself.she just wanted to try all means to save her children.maybe her courage touched the god.the miracle happened.she finally succeeded in saving her both children.and she,of course,felt extremely exhausted.

The construction of the Great Wall began over 2,000 years ago in the Qin Dynasty. Emperor Qin Shi Huang ordered the connection of several existing walls to protect the northern border of his empire from invasions. Countless workers, including soldiers, peasants, and prisoners, were involved in this massive project. They built the wall brick by brick, stone by stone, facing harsh working conditions and difficult terrains, like mountains and deserts.
The Great Wall winds its way across northern China, stretching more than 21,000 kilometers. Its not just a simple wall but a masterpiece of ancient engineering. Over the centuries, the Great Wall has withstood the test of time and wars. It witnessed the rise and fall of dynasties, and the defense of the Chinese nation.
Today, the Great Wall attracts millions of tourists from all over the world. It represents the perseverance, hard - work, and the spirit of unity of the Chinese people. Overusing the natural resources has already affected the ecological balance. However the factories still release the toxic air into the sky and the polluted water into the rivers. People still lack of the conscious of protecting the environment. I think it’s time for all of us to do something.

chinese restaurants have played an important role in american history, as a matter of fact. the cuban missile crisis was resolved in a chinese restaurant called yenching palace in washington, d.c., which unfortunately is closed now, and about to be turned into walgreen's. and the house that john wilkes booth planned the assassination of abraham lincoln is actually also now a chinese restaurant called wok 'n roll, on h street in washington.
and if you think about it, a lot of the foods that you think of or we think of or americans think of as chinese food are barely recognizable to chinese, for example: beef with broccoli, egg rolls, general tso's chicken, fortune cookies, chop suey, the take-out boxes.
so, the interesting question is, how do you go from fortune cookies being something that is japanese to being something that is chinese? well, the short answer is, we locked up all the japanese during world war ii, including those that made fortune cookies, so that's the time when the chinese moved in, kind of saw a market opportunity and took over.

Ladies and gentlemen, today Id like to share with you an interesting Chinese story - the legend of the Chinese Zodiac.
Long long ago, the Jade Emperor decided to select 12 animals to represent the years in a cycle. He announced a race, and the first 12 animals to cross a wide river would be chosen. The clever rat, not strong enough to swim across the river on its own, thought of a plan. It asked the hard - working ox to carry it across the river, promising to sing for the ox during the journey. The ox, believing the rat, agreed.
As they were about to reach the other side, the rat, eager to be the first, jumped off the oxs head and rushed to the finish line, winning the first place. The ox came second, followed by the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog, and the pig.

Time flies!Our freshmen have spent two months in our beautiful campus of university.
